* Press down on your painter’s tape…and then press down on it again. You probably already know that painters tape can protect adjacent surfaces that you do not want to paint, such as moldings and window frames. But when DIYers peel away this tape after painting, they often discover that paint has gotten underneath.
Simply applying painter’s tape to a surface does not provide sufficient protection. Once this tape is in position, run the pad of one of your fingers firmly along its length to press it down and improve the seal. If the paint job takes more than an hour or so, each time you get ready to paint a different section, rub your finger along the tape in that section once again. Recommendation: FrogTape brand painter’s tape is pricey, but it works very well (around $8 for a 60-yard roll, FrogTape.com).
