Lighting Changes Everything
One of the most important (and overlooked) factors in choosing paint is lighting.
Paint doesn’t exist in a vacuum — it reacts to its environment. The temperature of your light bulbs, the direction your windows face, the time of day, and even the season can all influence how a color appears on your walls.
Warm lighting tends to enhance yellow and red undertones, making colors feel softer and more beige. Cooler lighting highlights blue undertones, which can make the same color appear crisper or more gray. Natural light shifts constantly, so a room can feel different from morning to evening without anything else changing.
In the photos below, every wall is painted Worldly Gray. Notice how it reads warmer in some spaces and cooler in others. That difference isn’t the paint — it’s the lighting.
Before committing to any color, test it in your own space and observe it throughout the day. Lighting truly changes everything. ✨
