Choose a finish that is appropriate for the room and application. I like semi-gloss for trim, eggshell or satin for kitchens and bathrooms and all other rooms, and flat for all ceilings. Glossy finishes are the most durable, but flat finishes help to hide imperfections. Most paint finishes now, even flat, will hold up to a little cleaning.
